Who Should Read It
This guide is for you if:
• You’re thinking about cosmetic or reconstructive surgery but don’t know where to start
• You’ve already booked your procedure and want to know what to expect before, during, and after
• You value honesty and practical advice
• You’ve already had surgery and still have questions about your recovery or aren’t sure why your body feels the way it does
Why I wrote this book
I decided to write this book after supporting many women through their recovery and realising how often confusion and anxiety begin long before surgery day.
Many clients arrive for post-operative care feeling unsure about what to expect, what’s normal, or who to turn to with questions. Sometimes this uncertainty comes from information overload online; sometimes it’s simply because recovery isn’t talked about enough before surgery.
I’ve witnessed first-hand how much of a difference it makes when patients are cared for by consultants and surgeons who take the time to support them properly. When that communication and guidance are in place from the beginning, recovery tends to be smoother, safer, and far less stressful. There are so many incredible surgeons out there who truly put their patients first, this book is designed to complement their work by helping people arrive at their consultations prepared, confident, and informed.
This book was created to bridge that gap. It gives readers a calm, clear overview of what to consider before making surgical decisions, from understanding your motivations and researching consultants, to preparing for consultations, budgeting properly, and planning your recovery.
Many people only discover the importance of aftercare and compression after their procedure, when emotions and costs are already high. My hope is that this guide answers those early questions, encourages open communication, and helps readers move through their journey feeling confident, prepared, and supported at every stage.
Why You Should Read It
Because understanding the process is just as important as choosing the procedure.
I truly believe that when people take the time to:
• Think deeply about what they want to change and why,
• Ask the right questions before and during consultations,
• Understand recovery expectations, timelines, and risks,
they’re far more likely to have a positive, healthy experience, and far less likely to face complications, regrets, or unnecessary repeat surgeries.
Knowing what happens at each step doesn’t just protect your results, it protects your peace of mind.
